Las Brisas Ixtapa
Hotel Information: A private hilltop entrance leads into a stone courtyard with dramatic fountain, where porters escort new arrivals to the open-air reception area. Bright colors, high ceilings, and keyhole views of the Pacific Ocean highlight hotel's striking architecture. Las Brisas Ixtapa is a particular favorite of honeymooners for its romantic setting and rooms with private terraces, all with ocean views.
Amenity highlights: If guests get tired of the secluded beach (reachable by elevator), they can reserve one of four lighted tennis courts or sip a tropical drink at any of the four pools. The hotel also has a full fitness center and hair salon when pampering is called for.
Insider tip: Within 5 minutes of Las Brisas are two world-class golf courses, the Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed Palma Real and the Marina Ixtapa, designed by Robert Von Hagge. Both are par-72, 18-hole courses that give a 20% discount to Las Brisas guests. Ask the conrcierge for more information.
The tiered design of Las Brisas allows all 416 rooms to have direct-ocean views and large private terraces, each furnished with a table, two chairs, and a hammock. Newly renovated rooms (July 2007) feature fresh flowers on arrival. The hotel has its own water-purifying plant.
Rooms on the Brisas Beach Club floor include a complimentary Continental breakfast, daily happy hour, and floor concierge. Children, however, are not allowed on Brisas Beach Club floors.
